Here’s a modern new look.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson walked the red carpet at the 2024 Emmy Awards Sept. 15 without his signature accessory: his facial hair. Rather, the Modern Family alum arrived at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles with a clean shaven face. He completed his look with a blue Paul Smith suit with matching tie, finishing off the ensemble with burgundy shoes. (See every star on the red carpet here.)
He made the 76th annual award show—hosted by Eugene Levy and Dan Levy—a family affair arriving alongside husband Justin Mikita, 39, who wore a navy jacket and matching pants.
It’s not the first time the 48-year-old—who is presenting at this year’s show—has changed up his trademark scruffy look. In 2022, he shaved his beard into a classic moustache during his Broadway run in Take Me Out alongside Jesse Williams.
And it’s certainly not the first time he’s been taken out to the Emmys, either. After all, he earned five nominations through Modern Family’s run for his role as Mitchell Pritchett. And since they took their final bow in 2020, the cast—including Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Ed O’Neil, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara—have remained close. In fact, they reunited 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards in February.
"This really brings back memories," Ty admitted on stage at the time. "You guys ever miss it?"
As Julie said, "Oh, hell yeah. But of course, we had a good great time. Eleven seasons, 250 episodes, c'mon, that never happens!"
To which Jesse jumped in with, "Is it too early to talk about a reboot?"
Seven months later and we’re still waiting. So until then, read on to see every star slay the red carpet at the 2024 Emmys.
